Synopsis

A young nurse tries her hand at blackmail… and vanishes without a trace.

Inspector Scott Daley and Sergeant Deborah Whetstone are called to what looks like a routine traffic accident—but the grim discovery they make sends them deep into a world of secrets and silence. The trail leads to a private medical clinic where patients disappear, staff refuse to talk, and a shadowy research project hides behind locked doors.

Meanwhile, half a world away, Satya, a young refugee, risks everything in her search for freedom. Her journey through the dark underworld of human trafficking is fraught with danger—and her fate may be tied to Daley and Whetstone’s case in ways no one expects.

Back in London, Daley returns from long-term injury to find Whetstone in his seat, leading his team. Assigned light duties, he investigates a disturbing rise in missing persons—the work of the mysterious “Zone 6 Snatcher.” But the deeper they dig, the closer the detectives come to horrors neither of them is prepared for.

The Farm is book 2 in the Daley and Whetstone Crime Stories series. A dark, twist-filled British detective mystery where secrets fester, lives hang in the balance, and nothing is what it seems.

Perfect for fans of gritty police procedurals and page-turning thrillers.

À propos de l'auteur

Ryan Stark was educated at Eton and spent twenty years in the armed forces in various peacekeeping roles around the globe. Latterly he moved into the security services to become a field controller operating throughout the Balkan States on behalf of MI6. Following an heroic mission in Albania, in which he was instrumental in the rescue of fifty-eight children and five nuns from the hands of freedom fighters, Ryan was invalided out of the service on a robust pension. He lives alone in a converted windmill on the island of Kos, having never found the time to marry and is, of course, completely fictional. Austen Gower (1959-), on the other hand, is the living alter-ego of Ryan Stark. Born in Redditch, Worcestershire, Austen has a long and arguably distinguished career in Business Analysis and Consultancy. Throughout that time, he has been commissioned to write technical works on topics as diverse as network communications, project management methodology and anger management, for which he has a number of published articles. After a hankering to write a novel, which stretches back around twenty years and four incomplete works, finally Austen has taken creative writing seriously, with a view to quitting the rat race and using some of the left side of his brain so repressed in his day job. Writing as Ryan Stark, The Farm is Austen's second published work of fiction. Married, with a wife and two grown-up children, Austen has returned to his roots and lives in Redditch. https: //ryanstarkauthor.co.uk
