Synopsis

I wrote this book. Some of it’s true. Some of it’s not. We lived as poor people but most of the people that live in Okahumpka was as poor as we was. We all worked so we could eat. We lived hand to mouth. Even though we was poor people, we was happy. A lot of the stories in the book really did happen. But it’s a good thang my mama didn’t know all we done. All the people in this book are my friends from way back and some are friends today. Even though we was poor and had very little, I wouldn’t trade my life for one with a lot of money. I’m a better person and find my happiness in the friends I have around me.
