It reviews their childhood and young adulthood in Bayern (Bavaria) and their lives in Williams County, Ohio. Peter was a braumeister (beer maker), a mill hand and lumber jack, and finally a farmer.

Frederic W. Strobel II, Historian & Freelance Writer, lives on Lake Diane in southern Michigan near the Amish settlements of Camden and Reading. A native of Montpelier, Ohio, the author is married and the father of two children. He also has four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
