It is my ultimate desire to see people develop their authentic selves. This book reminds us that who we are, is not determined by circumstances but by how we choose to live through them.

Jamese Basken, artistically known as Grace, is a Poet, Author, Speaker and Founder of The Grace Project. Holding a Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership and 18 years of experience working with troubled youth in the Human Services field. Her desire to help people, started at a very young age. Grace began writing poetry at the tender age of 13 and she used writing to escape the traumatic experiences she faced in her childhood. However, as she got older God began to reveal to her that her poetry was not just an outlet but her poetry and her story would be a vessel to help others. Early on, she realized her life was peculiar and she had a great purpose. The traumatic circumstances she endured would later provide her with a platform to help people experience emotional healing, forgiveness and self-acceptance. Grace is living proof that your background and what you have been through does not have to determine your future. Grace is the first person in her family to receive a Master’s Degree, despite being told she would never receive a high school diploma. She is an Author a Motivational Speaker and she mentors young girls who are just like her. These are just a few examples of how she set out to re-write the statistics that stated she would never succeed. Armed with passion and the desire for change, Grace captivates audiences with her story, through transparency. She knows what it takes to overcome trails and beat the odds and she is passionate about sharing the tools for her success with you.
