The Making of Religion is the 1887 work of non-fiction by the famous author, theologian, historian, and anthropologist, Andrew Lang. The work is heavily influence by the popular 18th century idea of the “noble savage.” In the book he maintained the existence of high spiritual ideas among so-called "savage" races, drawing parallels with the contemporary interest in occult phenomena in England.
