Synopsis
Upon getting a Master's Degree in biochemistry, Edwina takes a job as a research associate in the Institute. She is assigned to breed rats treated with a new drug and test the offspring for deleterious effects. Institute personnel include a possibly senile director , an ambitious and abusive assistant director, a research associate who cracks up when her project fails, a graduate student who clowns to stay sane, another graduate student who compares the Institute to Nazi Germany, gossips, and a tin-god office manager. It's a zoo, Edwina thinks. Bright spots in the otherwise morbid environment are a pig farmer turned research veterinarian and a red neck with a hard-luck past. When the drug produces problems in the rats, her boss who has heavy investments in it tries to bury them. Edwina realizes the truth will out and she'll take the fall. She blows the whistle! But the bad guys are ahead of her, and all evidence of the drug 's adverse effects disappear. Edwina gets axed.Have the bad guys won? It isn't over till it's over! This one needs and has plenty of comic relief.
