Synopsis

Nick Hargreaves is a young London-based widower with a respectable banking job and a demanding two-year-old daughter whom he adores. Still reeling from the death of his beloved wife, Nick wants nothing more than to honour her memory by bringing up his daughter, Sally, in a safe and loving home. Not an easy task for a young man in his twenties dealing with peer pressure and the need to be seen as a responsible provider by his in-laws . When he begins an unlikely relationship with his neighbours brother Eamon, a gay teacher working and visiting from Paris, the odds are already stacked against them. Eamon has a slightly chequered past which would not normally be an issue but the added pressure of a young man bringing up a child in a society unaccustomed to that way of life then the couple are (not surprisingly) about to be tested in ways they could never have imagined. . They say that the strangest things happen and soon they are thrown into the unwelcome and often cruel world of drug dealing, pornography, criminal turf wars, money laundering and murder, and it will take all their strength and courage to protect themselves and those they love. . How they managed to get from mild-mannered suburbia, to London’s deprived east end and the seedy Parisian underground is far too straightforward and within the blink of an eye, it could happen to any of us. The Art of Chasing Rainbows demonstrates how many of us are striving for something to make our lives better and we may all be chasing those personal rainbows and have those dreams. But some of us consider different ways of achieving those goals and in some cases that drive to be better can have fatal consequences We all say that we would never lead our loved ones or ourselves into an unsafe world but we all live side-by-side, the good, the bad and the evil and Rainbows charts the journey of ordinary people thrown into extraordinary circumstances.
