Synopsis
En route to a secret NATO demonstration of his newest inventions, a deadly twist of destiny takes Tom Swift to Kranjovia, the police state that is a declared enemy of the Western powers. Seized by the murderous agents of the tyrant Ulvo Maurig, his escape from captivity is aided by a young dissident, Oblivya Zyg, on an ardent quest whose real motive is as mysterious as that of the Kranjovian enemies who pursue them both. Separated from his Swift Enterprises companions, traveling in secret, the Mauriggers take Tom to Iceland, where the young inventor’s synaptor machine poses both problem and its solution—as Tom is compelled to become more than himself to defeat a fantastic technological threat that could hold the entire world hostage to the fanatical rulers of Kranjovia. Or will the mental and physical skills transferred to Tom’s brain by his invention prove a curse that undercuts his last chance at victory?
