The idea for this book started when some of us returned from spring trips and discussed our friends’ and families’ misunderstandings about Parkinson’s. We found that people either ignored that we had Parkinson’s, acted as if we tried harder we’d be fine or treated us like we had one foot in a nursing home. So when we started talking about our trips I said, “Why don’t we write a book.” Many in the group thought that was a great idea and provided issues to include in the book. The result is “What We Want Our Friends and Families to Know about Parkinson’s”. The book is designed to facilitate conversations about dealing with Parkinson’s. All proceeds from the book will be donated to Parkinson’s organizations.
