Synopsis
This is another novel by French author Hector Mallot, and it follows the success of Nobody's Boy (Sans Famille, 1878) and Nobody's Girl.A young doctor, to escape his debts, kills an old usurer suffering from diabetes, condemned anyway by the disease. By mistake, he is the brother of the girl he loves, who is accused and sentenced to forced labor. Is consciense going to solve the case, or would he manages to keep silence in order to reach the social rank he had set for himself?
