Synopsis

Atticus Goodman isn't a bored billionaire playboy, or a jaded cop, or a rogue spy, and he certainly isn't an ex-military man out to right a wrong. He's a work-a-day guy who's just been made yet another victim of economic uncertainty. But, unbeknownst to him, the fates have another position lined up. After inadvertently inheriting a mysterious object from the suicide of a distraught stranger, Atticus finds himself at the precipice of a deep and intoxicating “rabbit hole”. Lead to a back-street curiosity shop, he befriends a strange old man with a familiar name and the keys to a mysterious, ancient, unearthly world. Beguiled by this shopkeeper's beautiful daughter and intrigued by the fantastic things he's shown, Atticus commits to an expedition to deliver his unwanted inheritance to its rightful owner. After threading through the medieval catacombs and surviving war torn deserts , he finds himself stranded on a strange, remote planet called Nod. Trapped by the enigmatic whims of a powerful alien culture, Atticus must help find a way to repatriate his inheritance, retain his sanity, and help himself and his friends get home.
Should Atticus really trust the mysterious old man who seems to be the only one who knows the true nature of the treasure he possesses? Is this disturbingly intelligent young woman he's stumbled upon interested in him, or just what Atticus can do to help her father? Is the conniving little man who trashed his house really his foe, or actually the only person he should be trusting? The answers can only be found in the lands of Nod!
