Synopsis

ABIGAIL WEB,a beautiful but troubled singer/songwriter and sometime drug dealer, finds herself in court after a car accident and is sentenced to 500 hours of community service. Having to quickly leave home to avoid a violent drug dealer after a drug deal gone wrong and with financial pressures at breaking point, agrees to take part in an urgent intervention of a psychotic client of NSW Health, to make ends meet. When too late to back out, realises the client is in fact DARREN MCLEAN, a man she went to school with and had a brief crush on. DARREN, assessed as an acute suicide risk, welcomes ABI back into his life, ignorant of the fact she is a paid participant. Can two lost souls find love after being thrown together by bureaucratic manipulation? Or was it doomed from the start? A TANGLED WEB - based partly on the recollections of a diagnosed schizophrenic - tells a story of created realities, surreptitious medication and government funding for sex. But did any of it happen?
