The characteristics of a loving dog like Sita are the same as those preached about in churches and temples all over the world: loyalty, love, caring, and obedience. However, in addition to being an amazing companion animal, Sita is a highly trained service dog tasked with ensuring the safety and well-being of her human, Jane, who is deaf. In a series of short devotionals, this book gives you a behind-the-scenes look at the training, development, and special purpose of a service dog while detailing the indestructible bond shared by Jane and Sita, connecting specific feelings, events, and attributes with teachings of the Bible to remind us of the most fundamentally important things in life.

Jane Biehl, Ph.D. has had several exciting careers as a librarian, counselor, college instructor, and writer. She holds master’s degrees in library science and rehabilitation counseling as well as a doctorate in counseling. She resides in North Canton, Ohio, with her hearing-ear dog, Sita, and an ornery rescue cat, Cesar. Jane is profoundly deaf and has worked with hard-of-hearing and deaf persons all her life. She passionately writes about dogs, hearing loss, and, as a cancer survivor, how to kick cancer’s butt, having published many articles and several books on these topics including a picture book for children titled "Here to Bump and Bump to Hear." Additionally, Jane has delivered compelling presentations at several national conventions as well as locally for Circle Tail, the organization that introduced her to Sita, and One of a Kind Pet Rescue, where she found Cesar. In her free time, Jane can be found reading, participating in her book club, following all Cleveland sports teams, trying new restaurants with friends, and traveling just about anywhere. She’s an active member of the Congregational United Church of Christ Church and Aultman Cancer Center advisory councils. Jane and Sita have been partnered since 2007 and, according to Jane, are lost without each other.
