Synopsis

It had been a hundred years since the angels brought the Storms that nearly wiped out humanity. Only one great city on the West Coast remained. They thought they were safe. They thought they were going to be left alone. They thought they were free of the creatures forever. They were wrong. Nine months ago the angels attacked. A third of the population was massacred, the rest were enslaved. Cale “Sendz” Edsen was one of the few soldiers who survived, but he could not escape the horror of what he'd seen. Of what he’d failed to do. For the past nine months, he has lived out of a bottle, drifting into the alleys of the Empty Gate, the roughest part of the city, the only section yet to be swallowed by the angels. He thought his life was over. He was wrong. Naz was able to do the one thing no else could do. Convince him to join humanity again. But not until he'd killed one of the angels with his bare hands. Hands that were stronger than they should have been. Hands that mirrored the creature he'd just killed. Now Sendz must find a way to redeem his failures of the past. But things have changed. He has changed. And his only hope to save the city is to find a way to be human again. But the angels know who he is. What he is. And they’re coming for him.
