This is not a biography. I’m not important enough to have an entire book dedicated to me. But every single chapter represents what I think and believe. And I’ve tried to add some humor and a bit of playful sarcasm to a few of the scenarios. That’s just my way of interpreting the happenings around me.This book is a result of years of watching people’s behaviors and reactions. I’ve always tried to put myself in the shoes of others, to capture their thoughts and ideas, and most importantly, to imagine what their message would be to their peers, friends, and family members. Rather than being solely mine, this book belongs to people working at coffee shops, mailrooms, financial shared services units, contact centers, manufacturing plants, dental offices, hospitals, and all other workplaces. I want my tips to be used by everyone, including middle and senior management.The Portuguese word causo means “a story” (whether representing true facts or not) told in a funny way and with a relaxed purpose. Often such stories present themselves in rhyme, thus working with the sonority of the words. They are also known as popular causes and are part of Brazilian folklore.In these pages, therefore, I introduce you to what I call “short stories of technical and nontechnical business topics, including real-life experiences, humor, and sarcasm.” Is this a better way to describe it? My explanation is longer than I initially imagined, but I feel more comfortable clarifying what you are about to read. It’s important that you read the instructions before beginning this book. They’ll help you navigate through the chapters, as I don’t necessarily expect you to read them in strict sequence. Pick your chapter. Read it. Reflect. Then read it again—and take the message to heart.
