JR a acquis une renommée internationale à l’âge de 27 ans, lorsqu’il a reçu le prix TED. Son projet "Inside Out" a attiré plus de 200 000 personnes dans le monde. Si l’oeuvre de JR est aussi spectaculaire que prolifique, c’est en 2016, pour les Jeux Olympiques de Rio, que l’artiste va concevoir “son oeuvre la plus folle” selon ses propres mots : Géants. Juché sur un échafaudage, un athlète haut de plusieurs étages saute par-dessus un immeuble abandonné, tandis qu’au pied du Pain de Sucre, une nageuse effraie les bateaux de passage et qu’à Barra da Tijuca un plongeur s’apprête à défier les plus grands cétacés.
