Helena Sanson is Reader in Italian Language, Literature and Culture at the University of Cambridge and Fellow of Clare College. She is the author of Donne, precettistica e lingua: un contributo alla storia del pensiero linguistico (Florence, 2007) and Women, Language and Grammar in Italy, 1500-1900 (Oxford, 2011). She directed the research project "Conduct Literature for and about Women in Italy, 1470-1900" (2012-2014).

Gabriella Romani is Professor of Italian and Director of the Alberto Italian Studies Institute at Seton Hall University. Her research focuses on gender and national identities in nineteenth-century Italy. Among her recent publications are Postal Culture in Post-Unification Italy (Toronto, 2013) and The Formation of a National Audience: Readers and Spectators in Italy (1750-1890) (Madison NJ, 2017).

Katharine Mitchell is Senior Lecturer in Italian Culture and Gender at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow. Among her recent books are Italian Women Writers: Gender and Everyday Life in Fiction Journalism, 1870-1910 (Toronto, 2014) and Gender, Writing, Spectatorships: Evenings at the Theatre, Opera and Silent Screen in Late Nineteenth Century Italy and Beyond (London, 2022).

Ursula Fanning is Associate Professor in Italian Studies at the School of Languages, Cultures and Linguistics in University College Dublin. Among her publications are Gender Meets Genre: Woman as Subject in the Fictional Universe of Matilde Serao (Dublin, 2002) and Italian Women's Autobiographical Writings in the Twentieth Century: Constructing Subjects (Madison NJ, 2017).
