In response to the uncertainties and upheavals in contemporary society, architects today are drawing inspiration from the great Greek and Renaissance architectural tradition. Accordingly, Allan Greenberg and Jacqueline Robertson in the United States, Demetri Porphyrios, John Simpson and Quinlan Terry in the United Kingdom, François Spoerry in France, Bruno Minardi in Italy, and Helmut Peuker in Germany, among others, are exploring a new approach to the city and to housing, in order to provide us with a renewed sense of beauty and the chance to live once again in harmony with our environment.
"I hope that the new Millenium heralds a renaissance in the way we design our cities, and that it will provide the opportunity to realise the vision we all share." (His Royal Highness, The Prince of Wales.)
