Synopsis

Textes de Paul Tristan Roux The French Riviera, or Côte d'Azur, is a microcosm combining all the ingredients that make up the originality and beauty of this land fashioned by Man: an immaculate silvery shimmering sea, exquisite coves, little harbours crowded with multicoloured fishing boats, slopes covered with a patchwork of olive groves, vineyards and mimosas, perched mediaeval villages overlooking ultra-modern cities from their hilltops... Because this coast was above all the realm of a certain art of living before it became a tourist haven, a multitude of museums, villas, gardens, casinos, luxury hotels and industries specialized in scientific research, all invite visitors to the joys of discovery. The challenge here is not bringing together the many precious yet disparate elements lying within an area of some 100 kilometres along this narrow coastal strip that it used to take visitors days to traverse in the 19th century. It is rather being so brash as to attempt, in these few pages, to sum up all the riches that make the French Riviera so incomparable. Edition brochée Parution : Juin 2004 Format : 15 x 21 cm
