Through his many historical works, Edmond Thin endeavours to share his passion for maritime Normandy. Chevalier des Arts et Lettres (Knight of the Order of Arts and Literature), member of the académie des sciences, arts et belles-lettres de Caen (Caen Academy of Science, Art and
Literature) and of the Société nationale académique de Cherbourg (Cherbourg National Academic Society), administrator of the Société d'Archéologie et d'Histoire de la Manche (Manche Archaeology and History Society), this born and bred Norman and winner of the Prix littéraire du Cotentin (Cotentin Literary Prize), is also a keen sailor who has braved for over thirty years the tumultuous waters of the Cotentin islands, be they English or Norman, and their formidable reefs.
