This volume contains the proceedings of the IUTAM Symposium on Model Order Reduction of Coupled System, held in Stuttgart, Germany, May 22-25, 2018.
For the understanding and development of complex technical systems, such as the human body or mechatronic systems, an integrated, multiphysics and multidisciplinary view is essential. Many problems can be solved within one physical domain. For the simulation and optimization of the combined system, the different domains are connected with each other. Very often, the combination is only possible by using reduced order models such that the large-scale dynamical system is approximated with a system of much smaller dimension where the most dominant features of the large-scale system are retained as much as possible.
The field of model order reduction (MOR) is interdisciplinary. L'auteur pose que les Lumières possèdent aussi des origines religieuses qu'il cherche, pour sa part, dans les transformations de l'éxège réformée dues à l'école de Saumur (professeurs de l'Académie de Saumur et pasteurs de Paris-Charenton). Etroitement liés à la recherche érudite de leur siècle, sensibles à la définition d'une politique séculière, les exégètes "saumurois" ont contribué à bouleverser le rapport de la conscience occidentale à la Bible. Réceptacle d'une Parole éternelle, elle est entré dans le temps des hommes et elle n'est plus admise à réguler le champ politique que dans la mesure où elle confirme la loi naturelle. Ce recul de la sacralité de l'Ecriture sous le double assaut de la critique et de la politique définit la situation même de la religion des Lumières mais s'effectue déjà souterrainement au XVII siècle (1620-1670 environ).
