Energy on the skin has revolutionized medicine: in the last 25 years laser and IPL devices have made completely new medical treatment concepts possible, with considerable therapeutic success. Dr. med. Gerd Kautz is Head of the Skin and Laser Clinic in Konz, Germany. He graduated as an MD from Semmelweis University of Budapest and the University of Saarland, where he spent 6 years specializing in the management of tumor response, radiation protection and laser protection. He then became a Laser Officer at the University Hospital Clinic and Head of the Laser Division, University of Saarland, specializing in skin and sexually transmitted diseases. He is the editor of several laser books and he was elected Vice-President of the DDL German Dermatological Laser Society and also became a Lecturer in Laser Medicine at the University of Greifswald, organizing and teaching at laser protection courses and several Laser congresses. He holds a D.A.L.M Diploma in Aesthetic Laser medicine, is a certified BVDD (Professional Association of German Dermatologists) Laser Officer, and in 2010, was elected President of the German Dermatological Laser Society.
