In the Design-for-Fit approach, the presentation starts with the geometric requirements for various kinds of fit and then presents the geometric tolerance statements necessary to achieve those fits.

Dr. Faryar Etesami is an Emeritus Associate Professor of Mechanical and Materials Engineering at Portland State University in Oregon. Dr. Etesami has many years years of teaching and research experience in the field of machine design and manufacturing. Dr. Etesami' s design experience spans over three decades which includes supervising more than two hundred capstone design projects, a variety of CAD classes, and working with geometric inspection software and tools. He has more than twenty publications in geometric tolerancing.
