This book presents detailed descriptions of the most relevant sorbent based and solvent-based microextraction techniques. The development of such miniaturised techniques is an important focus area in Green Analytical Chemistry as it allows for the reduction of toxic solvents and hazardous substances and decreases the complexity, cost, and time of analytical procedures. Numerous advances have been made in this field, and currently, there are a great number of microextraction techniques thanks to the development of novel materials such as nanomaterials and green solvents. This book provides an overview of the two main groups of microextractions, sorbent-based, and solvent-based. Each chapter focuses on the description of the technique fundamentals, the main applications, and the novel developments carried out in recent years written by a renowned expert or group of experts in the field. The main audience will be graduates, postgraduates, and researchers. It is also a useful resource for Master and Ph.D. students that are working in the development of sustainable extraction techniques

Dr. Miguel Ángel Rodríguez-Delgado is Full Professor at the Department of Chemistry at the University of La Laguna (ULL) and the Head of the research group "AQAIMPA" of the same university. He has published more than 135 articles (JCR) in journals with high impact factor and more than 15 book chapters in prestigious editorials Dr. Rodríguez Delgado has participated in more than 35 competitive projects he has initiated several research lines related to the development of sustainable analytical procedures for the analysis of organic contaminants in agroalimentary and environmental matrices.
Dr. Bárbara Socas-Rodríguez is Assistant Professor at the Department of Chemistry at the University of La Laguna (ULL). She has published more than 50 articles and more than 12 book chapters. During her PhD Dr. Socas Rodríguez carried out the development of analytical methodologies for the determination of endocrine disruptors. Afterwards, she continued her career at Lund University and The Institute of Food Sciences (CIAL) focused on the development of sustainable analytical procedures based on miniaturised techniques and the application of novel materials. Currently, she continues those research lines working as researcher of the research group "AQAIMPA" (ULL).
Dr. Antonio V. Herrera-Herrera is temporary lecturer at the Department of Chemistry at the University of La Laguna (ULL) and collaborates with the Archaeological Micromorphology and Biomarker Research Lab as lab manager. He has published more than 50 articles and 11 book chapters and he has presented more than 90 communications in national and international conferences. Dr. Herrera-Herrera carried out his PhD at the research group "AQAIMPA" focused on the development of sustainable analytical procedures. Currently, he continues working in the searching of novel miniaturised and green analytical methodologies for the analysisof organic contaminants, biomarkers and bioactive compounds, among others.
