This book offers an exploration of collective action by bringing together the themes of sovereignty and solidarity in post-colonial societies in Africa and beyond. It does so against a common tradition of writing about collective action that assumes an opposition between the state as a legal framework of unity and social movements that express the aspirations of marginalized people. Sepetla Molapo has an eclectic academic background having studied theology, religious studies, development studies as well as sociology. He is currently associate professor in the department of religious studies and Arabic at the University of South Africa, Pretoria. Sepetla is an established researcher with extensive experience in teaching, postgraduate supervision, academic leadership and community engagement. He has had fellowships with universities in Europe and the United States of America.
