The US-China -Taiwan relationship is multilayered and fraught, with widespread implications for the Indo-Pacific region. Utilizing the processes of historical periodization and analysis, this edited volume examines US foreign policy toward Taiwan between 1949 and 2023. Chapters are divided into two sections. Sabella Ogbobode Abidde is a tenured full professor of political science and member of the graduate faculty at Alabama State University, US, where he teaches courses in comparative politics, international relations, African politics and institutions, US foreign policy, senior seminar classes, and the politics of developing nations.

Tony Tai-Ting Liu is an Assistant Professor at the Center for General Education / Graduate Institute of International Politics at National Chung Hsing University, Taiwan. His research interests include international relations theory, international political economy, Chinese foreign policy, Japanese foreign policy, and East Asia regional integration.
