Alison Schonwald MD is a board-certified developmental behavioral pediatrician. After her undergraduate education at Yale University and then medical school at the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Schonwald completed a pediatric residency and developmental-behavioral pediatrics fellowship at Boston's Children's Hospital, where she served as faculty from 2001-2019. Now affiliated with Cambridge Health Alliance and an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School, she co-owns Touchstone Neurodevelopmental Center in Woburn, MA. Dr. Schonwald's clinical interests range from early diagnosis of developmental disabilities to psychopharmacology for children with a variety of developmental disorders. She is a nationally recognized educator of primary care clinicians on topics of ADHD, Autism, Psychopharmacology, and Transition to Adulthood. DePorres Cormier II, MD is a board-certified developmental behavioral pediatrician. He completed his undergraduate degree at Emory University and received his medical degree from Washington University in Saint Louis. He completed his general pediatric residency at Saint Louis Children's Hospital and his developmental-behavioral pediatrics fellowship at Boston Children's Hospital. Dr. Cormier currently serves as an Assistant Professor in Pediatrics at Saint Louis University School of Medicine and as an attending developmental-behavioral pediatrician at the Knights of Columbus Developmental Center at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital. Dr. Cormier's clinical interests include the developmental and behavioral outcomes of children with chronic and complex medical conditions, such as congenital heart defects and fetal alcohol spectrum disorders. Shawna McCafferty, MD is a board certified Developmental & Behavioral Pediatrician. Following a career with the US Navy, she completed a post-baccalaureate program at Augusta University and then medical school at the Medical College of Georgia. After completing a pediatric residency and developmental-behavioral pediatrics fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina, Dr. McCafferty established the Breakwater Center for Developmental & Behavioral Pediatrics. Through her practice, she partners with regional non-profit organizations to provide developmental evaluations in counties with limited diagnostic services. She also serves as the Senior Autism Policy Consultant for the South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, working to improve access to developmental-behavioral care throughout the state. Clinically, she promotes the diagnosis and management of autism in primary care, while helping families navigate complex presentations and psychopharmacologic treatment of neurodevelopmental conditions.
