Dr Shamim I. Ahmad, after getting his PhD from Leicester University Joined Nottingham Trent University where he worked a lecturer/Senior Lecturer for over 40 years has retired in 2022. Besides teaching a variety of subjects in the field of Microbiology and Molecular genetics has carried out research on thymineless death, in bacteria, genetic control of nucleosides and nucleotides, development of anti-aid drugs, control of micro-infection of burns and microbial flora of Chernobyl after the accident of its power plant, who has carried out a large number (65 +) of research publications in the field of molecular biology and genetics. Also has been collaborated in research with the University of Osaka, Japan, University of Leiden, Holland, CNRS, Gif-Sur-Yvette, France, University of Copenhagen, Institute of Genetics and Industrial Microorganisms, Moscow. As an Editor/Author he has published 15 Medical most covering a number of Human diseases with the last book on Human Viruses, Diseases, Treatments and Vaccines published by Springer in 2021. Most other books either published by Springer or Taylor and Francis, CRC Press. In 2003 he was awarded – Asian Jewel Award – Education Excellence Award of Central England.
Dr. Syed Khalid Imam is a Consultant in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology, currently serving at Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Humanitarian City (SBAHC), Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery degree from Dow Medical College, Karachi, followed by a Fellowship in Internal Medicine from the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP). He also completed a Clinical Fellowship in Diabetes and Endocrinology from Liaquat National Hospital, Karachi, and received Subspecialty Certification in Diabetes and Endocrinology from the Royal College, London, UK. Additionally, he holds an honorary Fellowship in Endocrinology (FACE) from the American College of Endocrinology, USA. Dr. Imam has served for several years as Head of the Diabetes and Endocrinology Department, Program Director of the Internal Medicine Residency Training Program, and Chairman of the Research and Ethics Committee at Liaquat National Hospital, Karachi, Pakistan. He is also a supervisor for the Endocrinology Fellowship at the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan. Moreover, he is an active member of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists and an executive member of the Pakistan Endocrine Society, where he has also served as General Secretary.
He has published numerous research papers, review articles, and case reports in national and international journals and has been invited to speak at various scientific conferences. His primary areas of interest and research include obesity and diabetes. Dr. Imam is also part of the research team of the Saudi Genome Research Project and has served as an investigator in two international clinical trials on diabetes mellitus. In recognition of his contributions, he received the Best Internal Researcher Award in 2023 from the SBAHC Research Center. He played a key role in establishing a Metabolic Center at his current workplace to provide multidisciplinary care for patients with obesity, diabetes, metabolic syndrome, dyslipidemia, and genetic syndromes.
Dr. Imam has been actively involved in medical publishing since 2014. He is one of the editors of Obesity: A Practical Guide, Thyroid: Basic Science and Clinical Practice, and Diabetes: A Comprehensive Treatise for Patients and Caregivers, and a contributing chapter author in Diabetes: An Old Disease, A New Insight.
