English summary: Upbringing, education and supervision in groups are one of the most important ways of early childhood socialisation. The work combines central aspects of group psychology with such of developmental psychology, so that these can be used in early childhood education. An excurse into history demonstrates that supervision in groups doesn't follow evolutionary principles, but originated in economic and fiscal needs and has always been disputed. Questions on advantages and disadvantages of learning in groups, on group structures and leading of groups in the field of early education as well as risks of groups lie at the centre of the work. The areas heterogeneity and multiculturalism, which are of increasing importance, are analysed in depth. German description: Die Erziehung, Bildung und Betreuung in Gruppen bildet heute einen der wichtigsten Wege der Kleinkindsozialisation. Der Band verknupft zentrale Themen der Gruppenpsychologie mit solchen der Entwicklungspsychologie kleiner Kinder, um sie fur die Praxis der Vorschulerziehung fruchtbar zu machen. Ein kurzer historischer Ausflug zeigt, dass die Betreuung in Gruppen keineswegs evolutionar vorgezeichnet, sondern eher okonomischen und fiskalischen Notwendigkeiten entsprang und seit jeher umstritten war. Im Mittelpunkt stehen dann Fragen nach den Vor- und Nachteilen des Lernens in Gruppen, nach den Gruppenstrukturen im Elementarbereich, aber auch nach den Risiken der Gruppe, nach den Moglichkeiten der Fuhrung von Gruppen im Elementarbereich. Ausfuhrlich wird dabei auf die Problemfelder der Heterogenitat und Multikulturalitat eingegangen, die den padagogischen Alltag im Elementarbereich zunehmend pragen.
