Synopsis

This book presents the concept of functionally graded materials as well as their use and different fabrication processes. A case study is also presented in the book on the experimental analysis of functionally graded material using laser metal deposition process.

Professor Esther Akinlabi is a Full Professor and the Head of Department of Mechanical Engineering Science, Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment, University of Johannesburg, South Africa. Her research interest is in the field of advanced and modern manufacturing processes - Friction Stir Welding, Laser material processing and material characterization.
