Sickle cell anaemia patients have been known to be attended by medical physician for a long time. Sickle cells have been found not to affect only liver, spleen, lungs or brain but also have paramount effects on Musculoskeletal system. Avascular necrosis of femur and humerus, spine osteonecrosis, osteomyelitis, leg ulcers and pathological fractures are amongst few complications due to sickle cell anaemia. Orthopaedic surgeons and physiotherapist have found a central chair at the sickle cell anaemia clinic and hospitals. In this book a central chair for Orthopaedic surgeon and physiotherapist is well defined regarding a detailed research on Musculoskeletal complications amongst sickle cell anaemia and its associated factors in Uganda, Africa.

Biographie de l'auteur

Inyas L. Akaro, MD ( Muhimbili University), Mmed in Orthopaedics (Makerere University), Paedatric Orthopaedic Surgery fellowship (Beit Cure International Hospital - Malawi). Currently Orthopaedic surgeon at Bugando Medical Centre, lecturer at Catholic University of Health and Allied Sciences.
