The Earthquake in Marathawada on 30th September 1993 and Bhuj on 26th Jan.2001 caused an unprecedented loss of life and property.Previously it was assumed that except Koyana region, seismic risk in rest of Maharashtra is minimum. But Killari incident made us aware to take due precautionary measures while designing the structures in all over the India. In this book various Low Cost Earthquake resistant models are suggested using various locally available materials. Various retrofitting methods are explained.Importance of confining reinforcement and development length for ductile detailing is also explained with the help of actual case studies.

Prakash S Pajgade BE (Civil) from VRCE Nagpur, ME Earthquake Engineering (IIT Roorkee), Ph D. He is working as Professor at PRMIT & R Amravati for last 30 Years. He has published more than 75 papers. Prof Suresh S. Kulkarni was Professor & Head of Applied Mechanics VRCE, Nagpur. He is working as Structural designer for many important projects.
