Synopsis

This study presents an unprecedented topic which is the linguistic analysis of a selection of Qur’anic proverbs. In other words, this work tries to unveil the phonological, lexical, syntactic, rhetorical and semantic features playing a role in the selected Qur’anic proverbs. Moreover, this study probes the features that make Qur’anic proverbs stand out from Arabic and even English proverbs. The significance of this study emerges from the fact that Qur’anic proverbs have their prominent status not only because they occupy a place in everyday language but also because of their richness in linguistic aspects. This means that the findings of this book are reached upon the practical and theoretical linguistic analysis of the selected Qur’anic proverbs. It also investigates the translations of the selected Qur’anic proverbs in order to examine whether the linguistic features found in the Qur’anic data are successfully rendered into the chosen English translations or not. This book should be especially useful to professionals in Linguistics, Qur'anic Studies and Theology fields, or anyone else who may be interested in the inimitability or eloquence of the language of the Glorious Qur'an
