L'industrie automobile est l'une des plus grandes industries les plus influentes et à forte intensité de main-d'œuvre au monde, qui joue un rôle important dans l'économie d'un pays (Chung et al., 2001), avec des structures de travail au sein de l'industrie découlant de la division du travail au XXe siècle (Freiboth et al., 1997). Plus de 3,7 millions de véhicules automobiles ont été produits en Inde en 2010 (une augmentation de 33,9 %), faisant de notre pays le deuxième (après la Chine) parmi les marchés automobiles à la croissance la plus rapide au monde (Gulati, 2010). Ainsi, il joue un rôle majeur dans la croissance de l'économie en Inde. L'industrie représente 22 % du produit intérieur brut (PIB) manufacturier du pays.
