Provision of good quality drinking water to rural and urban areas is one of the strategies of improving the standard living of public health in Kano State, Nigeria. In view of the above this work assessed the microbiological and physicochemical parameters of Watari Dam, Kano State in comparison with the prescribed World Health Organization desirable limit. Seasonal and sampling sites variation of microbial analysis revealed high microbial load coupled with presence of Escherichia coli above the WHO standard limit. All the physicochemical parameters determined were within the WHO permissible limit with the exception of Nitrate, Phosphate and TDS. It is therefore recommended that proper attention need to be given to the water body by appropriate authorities due to its possible health implication on the consumers through continuous monitoring so as track any adverse environmental changes in the dam. The authors have made every effort to provide an exciting and invaluable learning resources to expedite further study for the emerging water quality problems in the study area.
