Synopsis

Crushing behavior of energy absorbers for improving the crashworthiness capacity of vehicle structures during a collision is considered in this book. A collision or impact is a very short time occurrence that its dangerous forces are inserted to the passengers. The energy generated in a collision must be absorbed by well-designed energy absorbers to protect vehicle structure and especially passengers from severe injuries. Use of thin-walled tubes for absorbing crash energy in vehicles, high-speed railways and aerospace industries has been become popular in recent years. These structures absorb kinematic energy of a crash via elastic-plastic deformations.

Dr. Pirmohammad is currently academic staff at University of Mohaghegh Ardabili, Iran. His research interests include Impact mechanics and Fracture mechanics. He is the author of many scientific publications and books. Mr. Esmaeili-Marzdashti is a researcher in the area of Impact mechanics, and holds his M.Sc from University of Mohaghegh Ardabili.
