Despite their comparatively high energy consumption and the current price and supply situation, evaporative separation processes are widely used in industry. This book deals with all the factors that significantly affect the design and operation of modern evaporation. It commences with the basic theory and goes on to present optimum solutions to various problems in the light of examples taken from industry. Due consideration is given to design and operational aspects, and applications are illustrated by numerical examples. Furthermore, the implementation of evaporators in effluent treatment and seawater desalination is treated in depth. Mathematical methods are presented for determining the minimum energy and capital costs, reflecting the impact of energy and ecological consideration on the design of evaporators and evaporation processes. Written for planning engineers, manufacturers and operators of evaporation plants, this book can also be used effectively as a textbook for chemical engineering students interested in evaporation technology.
