Quatrième de couverture :
Asymmetric catalysis is the most efficient and economical way to produce optically active chemicals, and is of great importance for both industrial applications and academic research. However, the practical application of asymmetric catalysis is severely limited by the difficulties in separation and recycling of the expensive chiral catalysts, primarily due to the homogeneous nature of the reaction systems. As one of the most promising way to circumvent these difficulties, immobilization of homogeneous catalysts have received considerable attention in recent years. A variety of heterogenization techniques are developed for immobilization of enantioselective catalysts, which greatly facilitate the efficient recovery and reuse of the expensive chiral catalysts, and potentially allow the development of the corresponding cost–effective industrial processes.
In this most up–to–date handbook each chapter contains a general introduction, followed by the principles of the immobilization and, finally, applications. In this way, it covers the most important approaches currently employed for the heterogenization of chiral catalysts, including data tables, applications, reaction types and literature citations.
This book is a must–have for chemists in both academia and industry as well as those working in the fine chemical and pharmaceutical industry.
Biographie de l'auteur :
Kuiling Ding received his B.S. degree from Zhengzhou University (1985) and a Ph.D. degree from Nanjing University (1990). He was a faculty member of Zhengzhou University from 1990 to 1998. He engaged in a postdoctoral research at Ryukoku University during 1993–1994. He spent another year at TIT as a UNESCO research fellow before joined the faculty of Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry in 1999, where currently he is a professor of organic chemistry. Professor Ding has authored over 100 scientific publications and twelve patents. He has been a member of the International Advisory Board of Eur. J. Org. Chem since 2006.

Yasuhiro Uozumi received his B.Sc. (1984), M.Sc. (1986) and Ph.D. (1990) degrees from Hokkaido University. After working at Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Hokkaido University (1989–1990), he joined the Catalysis Research Center as an assistant professor (1990–1994). He then served as a research associate at Columbia University, after which he moved to Kyoto University (1995) as a lecture of the Department of Chemistry. He became a full professor at Nagoya City University in 1997. In 2000, he moved to the Institute for Molecular Science (IMS). He is an editor of various journals.
