Synopsis
Research on the environmental fate of pharmaceuticals has been of increasing scientific interest for many years. Many questions are still unanswered. Is the emission of antibiotics into the environment a possible source of increasing resistance to these compounds? What is the significance of other drugs in the environment for humans and other organisms? Is the threat to human health increasing? Knowledge has been gained by several research groups. This book gives an overview of the topic. Various contributions, all covering typical questions related to pharmaceuticals in the environment, are presented.
