This is a review of the main problems that result from breast cancer therapy for patients. The book sets out to offer guidance on how to avoid over-treating low-risk patients and, conversely, how to avoid under-treating high-risk patients. Material on surgery, radiotherapy, hormonal therapy, chemotherapy, inflammatory cancer, bone marrow transplants and the therapeutic aspect of DNA research is included.

The main problems and results of the therapy given to high-risk breast cancer patients are reviewed in this volume by leading investigators. Their approach assumes that a quantitative assessment of the risk has been made at diagnosis, which permits selective therapies for individual patients. This is the most effective way to avoid overtreating the low-risk and undertreating the high-risk patient.
