DonCoppersmith's presentation"ThedevelopmentofDES"recordedhisinvolvementwithoneof themostimportantcryptographicdevelopmentsever, namelytheDataEncr- tionStandard, andwasparticularlyaptgiventheimminentselectionofthe AdvancedEncryptionStandard. Mart´?nAbadi'spresentation"Tamingthe- versary"wasaboutbridgingthegapbetweenusefulbutperhapssimplisticthreat abstractionsandrigorousadversarialmodels, orperhaps, evenmoregenerally, betweenviewpointsofthesecurityandcryptographycommunities. Anabstract correspondingtoMart´?n'stalkisincludedintheseproceedings. Theconferenceprogramalsoincludeditstraditional"rumpsession"ofshort, informalorimpromptupresentations, chairedthistimebyStuartHaber. These presentationsarenotre?ectedintheseproceedings. Anelectronicsubmissionprocesswasavailableandrecommended, butforthe ?rsttimeusedawebinterfaceratherthanemail.
