The papers are organized in topical sections on automated annotation, coding and streaming, video semantics and relevance, audio, recognition, classification and retrieval, as well as query and summarization.

Since its creation in 1991 by TELECOM ParisTech and EPFL, it has developed strong international links with both academic and industrial partners.
