Synopsis

Volume 21 describes mononuclear organotin compounds containing bonds between tin and transition metals of Groups III to VII. It includes a few compounds with tin-lanthanide and tin-actinidebonds. Compounds with Sn-Cr, Sn-Mo, Sn-W, and Sn-Mn bonds are most numerous and occupy a large portion of the volume. Many molecular structures are displayed to illustrate the geometry of sigma-bonded organotin units and, in several cases, also the more complex bonding between the tin and transition metal moieties. If a compound was earlier described within the "Gmelin" series on organometallic compounds of the transition metals, reference to the respective location is made and new information is added when available in the literature.
