Synopsis
This work focuses on the role of gender in task-oriented or goal-oriented interaction which most often arises from the interactions inherent in paid or unpaid work on the part of communities, teams, community groups, juries, classrooms and work groups. The authors address two basic questions - "To what extent are gendered patterns of interaction a product of men's and women's different status and resources in society?" and, "How does the impact of gender on interaction affect structures of inequality between men and women?".
