The evolving nature of armed conflict, characterized by a new emphasis on crisis management and peace support, is bringing morality to the forefront of military leadership. The Editors : Edwin R. Micewski is social philosopher and Director of the Institute for Human and Social Sciences at the National Defense Academy in Vienna, and visiting professor at the Department of National Security Affairs of the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California. Hubert Annen is senior lecturer for military psychology and military pedagogy and head of the Assessment Center for professional officer candidates at the Swiss Military Academy at the ETH Zurich.
