Synopsis

This work introduces, from several points of view, the issues related to the simulation of complex multi-processor systems on a single chip, also known as MPSoC. The design of such systems raises new challenges due to the large design space and tight design and time-to-market constraints: producing complete solutions requires techniques and methodologies coming from different fields, and the design and production process can be seen from several points of view. This book mainly focuses on the mechanisms behind simulation platforms for MPSoCs which support the so called Platform Based Design, an innovative technique eliminating the need for costly design iterations and enabling smooth transitions between the different modeling abstraction levels. In this context other Architectural Description Languages and Real-Time Operating Systems are presented and analyzed. After reading this book, professional and experts in the embedded systems market (telecommunications, mobile phones, aero-space industry, etc.) should get a deep insight on the newest mechanisms and methodologies driving the design and development of next generation Multi-Processor embedded systems.
