In 2005 the author immersed himself in the life of two Vancouver-area high schools (one public, one private) during in-depth case studies of the personal, pedagogical, and professional responses of teachers and principals to the high stakes BC Provincial Examination Program. This book documents the power of high stakes testing to warp a once world-renowned educational system and push teachers and principals to the limit as they balance the testing stakes with the true meaning of education.
