The use of information and communication technology in our day to day activities is now unavoidable. In tourism developments, computers are used to guide visitors and provide information to both visitors and managers of the sites. In this book, an online distributed information and navigation system was designed, taking four Niger state tourism destinations into account. In the methodology of the work, the conventional process models for software engineering(waterfall model, incremental model, prototyping and spiral model) were reviewed and an additional model was proposed. The proposed process model was followed to develop the tourists distributed system needed in this research work. This is due to the advantages of the proposed model over the conventional prescriptive process models. The distributed system was designed using Java Applet (NetBeans IDE 6.1 compiler), Hypertext MarkUp Language (HTML), Personal Home Page (PHP), Java script and MySQL as the back-end integration database. Two different MySQL servers were used, the MySQL query browser and the WAMP5 server to compare the effectiveness of the system developed.

Shafi'i Muhammad ABDULHAMID holds M.Sc. degree in Computer Science from Bayero University Kano, Nigeria (2010) and B.Tech. degree in Mathematics/Computer Science from the Federal University of Technology Minna, Nigeria (2004). Presently he is a lecturer at the Department of Cyber Security Science, F.U.T. Minna, Nigeria.
