Synopsis

This book is about the informally working cohesive forces connecting the drafted man-power in the Turkish Armed Forces. (Service is compulsary for a specified term for all healthy male citizens). Esprit de corps, which is essential for high morale, can be achieved and sustained in a better and more effective manner, through traditional in-gdoup ties, rather than officially imposed norms or legitimate but coercive written codes. The spontaneous formation of the "we-feeling" thus created provides the best psychological support ever possible for the plain soldier, under harsh training conditions as well as real battle circumstances.
