J'ai été très satisfait du travail. J'ai trouvé que l'application de la théorie de l'autorité de Weber était bien adaptée à la question du leadership hérité d'un pesantren. Ceux d'entre nous qui étudient le pesantren sont bien conscients que de nombreux pesantren sont confrontés à des difficultés après la mort du fondateur. Ce travail documente et explique les approches prises à Pondok al-Munawwir à Krapyak, Yogyakarta. J'ai visité ce pesantren plusieurs fois depuis 1995, plus récemment en 2008, et j'ai trouvé le récit de la transition dans la direction engageant et informatif. Cette œuvre est ethnographiquement saine et riche en détails. J'ai trouvé l'explication du concept de barakah, mujizat et karamah, et leur relation avec l'utilisation du « charisme » par Weber comme une contribution utile et originale. - Prof. Ronald A. This work is ethnographically sound as well as rich in detail.
